A special session on diversity, equity and inclusion will be one of the highlights of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) Summer Meeting, July 7-10, 2022, at the Westin Copley Place in Boston.
The special session – “The Business Case for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” – is being coordinated by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas International Gaming Institute. It will be held at 9 a.m. on July 9.
The gaming industry is one of the most diverse workforces in history, but representative leadership remains elusive. The panel will discuss how diversity is measured and how it includes more than demographic traits like race, ethnicity, and gender. Connecticut Representative and NCLGS Vice President Christie Carpino will moderate the panel, which includes these presenters:
As the only gaming conferences where the legislative decision-makers meet, the NCLGS semiannual meetings attract legislators, regulators, operators, suppliers, attorneys, lobbyists, media, and other stakeholders to discuss all aspects of regulated gaming.
Dozens of legislators from across the country will be among the more than 250 expected attendees. Last year’s Summer Meeting in Chicago achieved record attendance, including 40 legislators from 17 states. Additional states have joined NCLGS since the Summer Meeting.
Registration for the NCLGS Summer Meeting is open to the public. Due to high turnout, the host Westin Copley Place conference room block on Saturday night is sold out. NCLGS has listed eight first-class hotels within a short walk of the Summer Meeting; clickhereto view the agenda, registration and auxiliary hotel information.
The four-day Summer Meeting in Boston will include:
NCLGS Committee meetings and general sessions, which are open to all attendees, will focus on all the critical issues facing gaming, from the expansion of sports betting, igaming and ilottery to taxation, compacts with tribal operators and new land-based gaming operations.
Once again, the GLI Regulators Roundtable will co-locate with the NCLGS Summer Meeting, taking place July 7 at the Westin Copley Place.
The NCLGS Summer Meeting has been approved for 10 general credits of Continuing Legal Education by the State of Nevada.
