NCLGS to Consider Critical Resolution on Responsible Gaming at Winter Meeting
December 12 - 14 in Austin, Texas
AUSTIN, TX -- The Responsible Gaming Committee of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) will play a central role in determining best practices that states should consider when developing policies to protect vulnerable players. To meet that goal, the Committee will lead a discussion at the upcoming NCLGS Winter Meeting on December 13 in Austin that will include input from invited experts and attendees.
One goal of the committee hearing, which will include input from general attendees, is to provide the basis for a NCLGS resolution that legislators from member states can vote on in a future meeting. This forthcoming resolution will identify best practices for states to consider as they grapple with this issue, ensuring that their policies keep pace as new forms of gaming continue to expand across the United States.
“We announce the formation of this upcoming hearing during Responsible Gaming Week, and that is no coincidence,” said NCLGS President and Nevada Sen. Keith Pickard, who also chairs the Responsible Gaming Committee. “While we have the attention of so many industry stakeholders during this important week, we will assert our goal of making Responsible Gaming an issue that lawmakers will keep in mind 52 weeks a year, every year. We will do that by doing what NCLGS does best: Suggesting best practices for states to adopt.”
