NCLGS works to provide information on all sides of gaming issues, with the primary goal of educating state legislators so that they may make informed decisions on public policy issues related to gaming.

Items under this menu option are links where more information on gaming issues, gaming proponents and gaming opponents may be found. Because of the volume of information about gaming available, this list is not exhaustive; NCLGS has tried to represent varied points of view. Regulatory Agencies

International Association of Gaming Regulators
The IAGR is an organization of international government agencies responsible for the regulation of gaming in their home jurisdictions concerned with sharing information and resources among each other on issues relevant to the regulation of gaming.
National Indian Gaming Commission
Established under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, the National Indian Gaming Commission is an independent federal regulatory agency charged with the regulation of Indian gaming on Indian land, specifically to protect tribes from corrupt influences, including organized crime, to make sure it is tribes that are receiving the benefit of Indian gaming, and to ensure that fair playing practices that protect tribes and players are adhered to. The NIGC maintains a list of gaming tribes on its site, searchable by tribe or state.
North American Gaming Regulators Association
NAGRA was created in 1984. Members are federal, state, local, tribal and provincial government gaming regulators.
International Center for Responsible Gaming
The world’s leading international gaming regulation research and education entity. UNLV hosts the only academic institute in the world dedicated to the study of highly regulated industries with an emphasis on casino and online gaming, The International Center for Gaming Regulation (ICGR). The ICGR specializes in research, executive education, advisory practices and developing leadership councils that routinely assess and make recommendations to improve international gaming regulations.

Problem and Compulsive Gambling

Gamblers Anonymous
Gamblers Anonymous is an organization of men and women committed to helping each other stop compulsive gambling through a 12-step program. The site offers an international directory to make it easy for visitors to find a GA meeting near them.
Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse
CCSA provides information on resources, programs, events and services related to problem and compulsive gambling in Canada. The organization also manages a problem gambling listserv.
Arnie & Sheila Wexler Associates
Compulsive Gambling and Related Addictions – Training, Consultation, Responsible Gaming Programs and Treatment Services. Arnie & Sheila Wexler offer consultation, interventions, group, individual, and family counseling, couple’s workshops, referrals, evaluations, and expert testimony. Also educational seminars, workshops, and training.
Responsible Gambling Council (Ontario)
The Responsible Gambling Council (Ontario) develops programs and works with communities and individuals to approach gambling in a responsible manner and avoid problem and compulsive gambling. The Council also conducts research on problem and compulsive gambling. The organization has an e-Library where users can search for gaming-related news, reports and web-links.
National Council on Problem Gambling, Inc.
The National Council on Problem Gambling aims to increase the public’s awareness of pathological gambling, work to expand the availability of treatment options, and support related research, prevention and education efforts. The NCPG offers a 24-hour confidential hotline for assistance, as well as links to state problem gambling resources.
National Center for Responsible Gaming
Founded in 1996, the NCRG is dedicated to funding research on problem and youth gambling. Its mission includes working to increase public awareness of pathological and youth gambling problems, as well as encourage new prevention, diagnosis, and treatment measures.

Pari-Mutuels

The Blood-Horse
The Blood-Horse is a weekly magazine that offers up-to-date news about horse racing and breeding, as well as information about the pari-mutuel industry in general, including federal and government activity and proposed legislation. The web site is updated daily.
National Thoroughbred Racing Association
NTRA is a trade association for the pari-mutuel industry. Its work includes a Racing Integrity and Drug Testing Task Force, and a Wagering Technology Working Group.
American Greyhound Council
A non-profit partnership of the National Greyhound Association and the American Greyhound Track Operators Association, the American Greyhound Council works to ensure the health, welfare and safety of greyhound dogs through programs focused on adoption, research, inspection and education.

Lotteries

Lottery Insider
A lottery-trade internet portal dedicated to lotteries and related subjects, Lottery Insider brings together news headlines, articles, industry statistics and links to state and international lotteries.
Multi-State Lottery Association
The Multi-State Lottery Association; offers descriptions of current and past multi-state lottery games as well as information on lottery news and current events.
North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries
The North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) now represents 53 members throughout the United States and Canada. NASPL’s mission is to advocate for lottery organizations on general policy and promote collaboration, education, and information sharing. The organization serves as a clearinghouse so that lotteries may share information and resources on policies, procedures, gaming integrity, security and efficiency. NASPL also conducts public education efforts and where there is agreement among its members, communicates the position of lotteries on public policy or legislative issues.

Internet Gaming

Interactive Gaming Council
The Interactive Gaming Council is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, Canada. Its mission is to provide the opportunity for interested parties to discuss the issues related to interactive gaming, including fair practices, public policy advocacy, and information distribution. The Council also regularly reports on state and federal Internet gaming related legislation and links to the full text sources of referenced legislation.

Indian Gaming

Historical and Contemporary American Indian Gaming
This Arizona State University bibliography of resources related to the history of Native American gaming includes documents, books, and materials available through the Government Printing Office, the University Library at ASU, and ASU’s Labriola National American Indian Data Center.
Pechanga.net
Through his web site, Pechanga.net, Victor Rocha offers daily links to news stories, feature articles and editorials about Indian gaming, as well as other Native American news.

A newspaper offering the Native American perspective on a variety of issues and current events, Indian Country Today is a frequent publisher of articles related to all aspects of Indian gaming.
Indian Gaming Association
The Indian Gaming Association is a non-profit organization of 168 Indian Nations and associate members dedicated to supporting the self-sufficiency of Indian Nations through gaming opportunities and steadfastly maintaining tribal sovereignty over Indian lands.

Legislative scholarships are limited and based upon approval by the NCLGS office.
